Sunday School Rotation Workshops

Sunday School Workshops examine a single Bible story for 4 weeks. The workshop leaders share the story each week in a different medium/format, such as video, puppets, crafts, cooking, games, drama, etc. This provides repetition of the same story (essential for learning), variety of formats/medium for interest, more engagement of the learner, & teachers working from their strengths. Children have a variety of gifts and abilities, and possess multiple intelligences; they learn in different ways through the various workshop experiences. Workshop leaders do three weeks of workshops. Week 4 is a Review week that is organized by Andy & Mary Robinson along with some special helpers to keep a pulse on how effective the set of workshops has been.
Workshop Leaders are individuals who commit to teaching one rotation (typically 3 sequential weeks) in a workshop where they have some skills or talents. During a rotation, a teacher will stay in their workshop while groups rotate through from week to week. Their task is to implement their skills and giftings through the various formats to reach the topical objectives of the given stories. Workshop ideas are provided although your own modifications or unique inovations are heartily welcome with Pastor Andy's backing.
There are also Group Shepherds. The Group Shepherd is an individual who is assigned to one specific age and/or gender group. This person is gifted relationally and he/she rotates with his/her class from workshop to workshop each week. But the importance of the Shepherding role is in the personal relationships that are built with the class. Shepherds take attendance and offering, chat with them about their week, and do follow-up on students who have been missing for a period of time. And most importantly they take up a serious burden to pray for their individual group members. Shepherds are asked to commit for 3 months and preferably 9. Substitutes are also needed. We will likely have the groups as follows: K&1; 2nd & 3rd; 4-6th girls; and 4-6th boys.
